Philadelphia —Forging What’s Next In Defense and Dual-use Technology

Philadelphia holds world-class research, emerging technologies, and mission-ready talent—yet these assets remain uneven. Independence Foundry exists to bridge that gap—connecting talent, institutions, and opportunity into a unified, regionally driven ecosystem that expands participation in defense and dual-use technology.

We don’t just build systems.
We expand access to them.

We don’t just align institutions.
We open pathways for those historically left out of high-growth industries.

We don’t just execute.
We create opportunity that is inclusive, scalable, and built for long-term impact.

Independence Foundry is a 501(c)(3) public charity—bringing together federal partners, universities, industry, and talent to build a more connected, inclusive, and opportunity-driven national security ecosystem. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Who We Are

Independence Foundry is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit institution built to serve as the connective infrastructure for the region’s defense and dual-use technology ecosystem. We are a regionally anchored, federally aligned national security platform purpose-built to:

  • Strengthen infrastructure that expands access and opportunity

  • Accelerate mission-relevant technologies

  • Strengthen government-industry-academia collaboration

  • Build defense-aligned talent pipelines at scale

This is institutional capacity.

Why This Matters Now

The innovation economy is expanding rapidly, creating new pathways to high-growth, high wage careers. However, access to these opportunities remains uneven—particularly for veterans and individuals from historically underrepresented communities.

In regions like Greater Philadelphia and Montgomery County, the building blocks for economic growth are already in place.

  • World-class research institutions

  • A growing innovation and defense workforce

  • Strong federal and regional investment

Yet without intentional pathways, many communities remain disconnected from these opportunities.

Independence Foundry exists to close that gap—connecting talent, access, and opportunity to ensure that participation in high-growth industries is more inclusive, equitable, and reflective of the communities they impact.

This is about:

  • Expanding access to economic opportunity

  • Strengthening workforce resilience and mobility

  • Increasing representation in high-growth sectors

  • Building inclusive pathways into emerging industries

The moment to act is now. Access must grow alongside opportunity.
